It’s our Birthday and we’ll eat lots of cake if we want to
We made it and I think a slice of cake (or two) to celebrate is well earned! I have to admit the year has flown by and getting a happy work life balance took a while to build but we all got there. Starting a new business is difficult at the best of times but i’m extremely proud of our team who have worked hard through the uncertainty of final Brexit agreements and the current global pandemic of COVID-19.
Firstly I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the Key Workers across the world who have battled tirelessly to save peoples lives and offer support to those in need. The kindness and community that has grown from this world disaster has touched the hearts of millions and I really hope it continues when COVID-19 has been defeated.
As a digital business we have been extremely fortunate to be able to have continued to work from home and have been supporting our clients as much as we can do through lockdown. We are all in this together and we all need to help each other to get through these difficult times.
Best bits of our first year
From a year of many great achievements as a new business there are a few that stand out :
Clients – After starting off with just a handful of clients we now have 50+ clients that we have worked with during the past 12 months. As with all our clients we enjoy building relationships as well as providing solutions for their business needs. We love meeting and getting to know new businesses and will continue to grow our client base into our second year.
Team – A great team is built on a few things but trust, reliability and an a willingness to learn certainly helps. We have grown close as a team, understanding each others roles and skills and having fun while we work. One big moment of last year was our first team trip to Chamonix which was a brilliant team building exercise just 4 months into our journey.
Office – Working at Society1 is fantastic and everyone who comes into the co-working space feels the welcoming, supportive and friendly atmosphere here. If you ever want a tour give me a shout.
Growth – As a small but skilful business we continue to grow with each client and projects we work on. Developing new connections, skills and thinking is something that has allowed us to provide different creative solutions to our clients business problems and requirements.
Fun – We spend most of our life at work and although there is a lot of effort and stress that goes into owning your own business – you also have the power to make your business how you want it to be. I hope it shows, but I believe we have built a friendly, welcoming and honest business that it always happy to help.
Plans for the next year
As we head into our second year there are lots of plans to work towards. The biggest and next step would be to grow the team and bring on board creative professionals that compliment our current setup and skills. To introduce people who enjoy working in a relaxed (most of the time) team and creative environment and who have the drive to improve themselves and impress both the team and clients.
We plan to attend more exhibitions and events (when it’s safe to) and learn about innovative and future technologies that could benefit our clients and business. I have also already been asked to talk at local schools and colleges about the creative industry which is both exciting and terrifying at the same time.
Another team trip is also in development. Spending time out of work to build stronger bonds with the team is something every business should work towards.
New client case studies
Over the next few weeks we will be sharing a handful of new client case studies. You can view our case studies here which talk about our clients, their projects and what we provided for them.
As always I finish our blogs with a few words :
“I’d like to thank everyone who has been a part of our 1 year business journey so far. We have grown, learnt and developed as a business and continue to improve through the relationships, support and connections we have created.
I would also like to again thank all the Key Workers and everyone who has supported those who need it during this crazy global pandemic.
